Dialect: The term dialect stands for a variety of language, spoken in one part of a country or by the people beginning to a particular social class. Which is different in some vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation from other forms of the same language. The term dialect is used to denote a geographically distinct variety of language. However, from a linguistic standpoint, all dialect is of equal prestige. And it is found that gaining status a dialect becomes the standard variety or standard language of a country. That's a dialect is a variety of language according to the users.
Major types Dialect
Social Dialect: A social Dialect is spoken by the people of a specific society. It can have it is own distinctive accent, vocabulary, grammar and so on. For example, the language of the lower class and the language of the higher class is not the same.
Regional Dialect: A Regional is spoken by the inhabitants of a particular region or geographical area. It's different from the other dialect by own vocabulary, grammar, and another thing. For example, the language of Dhaka city and the language of Chittagong city are not the same.
Register: A style level in a language .when we speak we automatically locate ourselves on a specific stylistic level. This can vary depending on the situation in which we find ourselves. A register is simply a rather special case of a particular kind of language being produced by the special social situation. Example- when talking to the postman one would most likely use a different register than when one is holding a public address. The Register is widely used in sociolinguistics to refer to varieties of language according to use. Sociolect: Due to social position. A variety of language which is typical of a certain class. Sociolects are most typical in urban areas. In history, Sociolects perhaps play a task, for instance within the formulation of the English customary, received pronunciation that comes from a city dialect ( that of London in the late middle ages)but which has long scenes become a sociolect (Cockney being the dialect of London nowadays. In our society, there are many kinds of social position people live here. But their social position is not same .for example some are high social status and some are middle status and some are high in social status.

Three major functions of language
- Expressive: Expressive is the function of language. Language has an impassive.
- Informative: Language is informative. In language, there are many kinds of information here.
- Vocative: Language is primarily made up of vocal sounds only produced by a physiological articulatory mechanism in the human body. In the beginning, it appeared as vocal sounds only. So linguists say that speech is primary while writing is secondary.
