His books have been translated into different languages. In addition to the Nobel Prize, he was honoured with the International Award. Svetlana Alexievich has spent forty years listening to the life stories of the former Soviet Union and the subsequent years. However, his prose not only highlighted the history, but also the emotional history of the people. After about half a century, this award was given to a literary, who was originally a 'non-fiction' writer. On the eve of 2005, on the eve of the publication of the English translation of the Book, an author had published an interview published on the website. Ana Lucich took the interview The main part of the interview is for readers-
Svetlana Alexievich

Anna Lucich: The Chernobyl statement of a fascinating, emotional book. What kind of sentiment or reaction did you want to the reader?
Svetlana Alexievich: There is an idea after many years of the accident, everything we know about Chernobyl, we all know; Chernobyl is a distant past, no one wants to hear the old tragic history. But the truth is that after the accident we did not forget, as well as the phenomenon of Chernobyl, we have not been able to understand correctly even today.

Anna Lucich: What type of reaction does the book most notice?

Svetlana Alexievich: This book is about to unravel the mystery of unknown truth to many readers. "I did not have any idea what happened in reality, especially in person." The book is not limited to Chernobyl accidents and the reasons behind it. Rather, the subject of Chernobyl is the subject of the next world. What was the reaction of the people, how did they survive the accident? Here are the descriptions of the natural damage of the accident and the harmful effects on the genetic formation of the people as it came in this book, what our experiences in our lives and in our consciousness have been affected.

Anna Lucich: How long did you take to collect the information and the testimonies of the witnesses? How long does it take to write the book? How much information is collected in the book?

Svetlana Alexievich: All my books - the testimony of the witnesses, the voice of the living people. Usually, it takes me three to four years to write a book, but it took ten years for this book. The first month I spent in Chernobyl, the entire area was pressed by journalists and writers from different countries, and all of them were shocked at the many questions. I was convinced that we were experiencing a completely unknown mysteries beyond our realm, though we are trying to describe it in the usual language, to keep it in the old formula, Yes, we are talking about the blunder of the Communist regime, talking about fraud and fraud against the common people. What should be done in this accident or not told to someone inappropriate, it was not supplied to the affected people. There is no doubt that all the allegations were true in character. As the Russian-born nuclear reactor exploded, the anti-Russian nationalist sentiment was strongly influenced by the reaction in Belarus and Ukraine. It is alleged that the Russians have polluted us with radioactive rays.

Anna Lucich: How did the Chernobyl statement make the decision to write the book? Where did the original inspiration come from?

Svetlana Alekseevich: Chernobyl showed us how dangerous the blind worship of power in the modern world. Higher dependence on muscle strength and muscle strength is terrible defective. Our modern life has become so serious for ourselves. Technology and human have been behind the parachute from the very beginning, the accident was hanging on our heads, not only on the size of the radioactive clouds - the blast did not just fly off the roof of the nuclear reactor. Soviet-Afghan war shattered the foundation of Soviet rule, Chernobyl came and shook the whole foundation strongly. Such a powerful explosion that has destroyed our lives. I remember in the memory of the protection of the common people and their children, anti-government gatherings in Belorussian, in which millions of people were gathered. I wanted to say that unique experience. Suddenly, the patriarchal society of Belorussian had to face the unknown fear of the future.

Anna Lucich: How was it different from the stories that people have heard from the public, the official commentary or the media-given details?

Svetlana Alexievich: Two are completely different. We have always been seeing this situation in Belorussia, there is a little bit in Russia - the way the ordinary people witness the events, they do not match any of the official versions. What is the main objective of the authorities? The authorities are always trying to protect themselves. Totalitarian rulers of that era are shining examples of this trend: They fear any kind of panic among humans, fears the truth also. Most people did not realize what was happening around. Attempted authorities in defiance of self-defence, therefore, deceived the people, lied, said false. People have assured that everything is fine, all are in control, there is no danger. The children were playing football in the yard, buying ice cream from the road, little kids were sitting in the sandbox, and even many people even went to the sun-bath in fearlessly. Today millions of children have fallen ill, and many have died. In the face of nuclear accidents, people finally realized that they were alone, there was no one beside them. Realized that the true truth of the incident was hidden from them, no one would come forward to help, neither any scientist nor any doctor This situation was new for them, unprecedented.

Anna Lucich: A combination of fictional techniques is seen with interviews in your books. It seems to me to be a unique genre of literature. Are there other types of doing similar work?

Svetlana Alexievich: In this way, the tradition of storytelling - that means collecting oral history, recording the living voices of human beings - these literature have been long time exit in Russian. In the Second World War, the books written by Grandin and Adamovich are written about the blockade of Leninagraha - for example, I have come from the village of fire. These books inspired me to write my own books. My understanding is that life is so versatile, it is not possible at all to have so many details or explanations of the same event that it is not possible to bind that diversity through fiction or documentary documents. So I have been forced to find different strategies to tell stories.
