James E. Arbee's translated into English from the original stories written in Spanish. Arbee's translation compilation was published in 1962. Both these collections of Borges have made global popularity in the 1960s. In 1941, the second short story collection of Borges published, whose English name was 'The Garden of Forking Paths'. There were eight short stories in these books. In 1944, Borges published another short story book with six stories. In 1948, the book 'The Garden of Forking Paths' was translated into English by Anthony Boucher.
Jorge Luis Borges's full name is Jorge Francisco Isidoro, Luis Borges. He was born on 24 August in 1899. He was a short story writer, essayist, astrologer, poet and translator. He is a prominent writer in Spanish literature. Among the famous books of Borges published in the 1940s are Fiction and The Aleph. Borges short stories are written on specific topics such as dreams, libraries, mirrors, philosophies and religions.
In 1914, Borges's family moved to Switzerland. Borges study there. His family wanders across the whole of Europe. They live in Spain for a long time. Borges returned to Argentina in 1921. His poems and stories were published from here. In addition to writing, Borges also worked as a librarian and public lecturer.
In 1955 he was appointed as the Director of the National Public Library of Argentina and Professor of English Literature at the University of Buenos Aires. Borges became completely blind at the age of 55. As a result, he could not read anything else. Many researchers believe that blindness has expanded its thinking world which has affected its writings.
Borges has been growing in the international arena in 1960. His poems and stories were translated into different languages in the world. Borges translations are published in different countries especially in the United States and Europe. Borges himself was well-versed in a number of languages. Borges devoted his last book, The Conspirators, to the city of Geneva, Switzerland. Bourges died on 14 June 1986.
