Jules Verne Biography

Jules Verne
Verne full name is Jules Gabriel Verne.  Jules Verne was born in 1828 in the port city of Nantes, on the shores of the Bay of Biscay in western France.  His father is Pierre Verne, and mother is Sophie Aloe de la Fuye.  He spent his childhood studying here.  They spent the summer in the town of Bray, near Nantes.  There Verne and his brother Paul often rented a boat for a day with one Franc.  According to Verne, the sight of ships sailing on the river sparked his imagination.  At the age of 12, he was caught running away from home while working as a cabin boy on a ship.  Then he promised his mother that from now on he would wander in his mind.  He started his career as a lawyer by studying law at the behest of his father and gained a good reputation.  But the adventurous Jules Verne soon became bored with the profession.  He left the law business and moved to America in 18.

Verne entered the literary arena by writing plays.  His plays became very popular.  His first book, Five Weeks in a Balloon (Cinq semaines en ballon), was so unrealistic that a publisher refused to publish it, so he decided to burn the manuscript.  But his wife's intervention saved it.  When the book was published later, it became popular overnight.  This writer, who is very homely in his personal life, has written all the world-famous science fiction stories while sitting in the attic of his house.  Notable among the characters he created were Philias Fagg, Captain Nemo, Robber and Captain Hatteras.  His novel 'Tigers and Tracts', based on the history of the Sepoy War of 1857 and the history of Nana Saheb, gives a perfect account of undivided India and different parts of Bangladesh.

His notable works include 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea', 'A Journey to the Center of the Earth', 'Around the World in Eighty Days', 'The Mysterious Island', Dick Sand, 'A Captain at Fifteen'.  Jules Verne was an authentic scientist, explorer and tourist.  According to great writers like Arthur C. Clarke, H. G. Wells, Isaac Asimov, "he is a powerful writer whose contribution to world literature is immense."  His magical writings have conquered all the limitations of geographical boundaries.

Science-mindedness is the main premise of Jules Verne's writing.  The main inspiration for the groundbreaking discovery of submarines, helicopters, aircraft, rockets, etc. was the work of Jules Verne.  Jules Verne's contribution to science fiction is behind many later scientific discoveries.  In the nineteenth century, when people could not even think of such a device, it is surprising to think how he recorded it.  Scientists also consider this great writer with immense respect for a good reason.  Beyond the limits of literature, his writings seem to guide modern science.  Capt. Cyrus Harding of the Mysterious Island by Jules Verne, a renowned French science fiction writer, will impress every reader with his innovative power.  This science fiction writer died on March 24, 1905 in the United States.  He was 6 years old at the time of his death.

For his significant contributions to literature, he was awarded the Order of Merit by the French Academy of Literature and an honorary membership of the Royal Academy of England.  In 1997, Time magazine named him the best science fiction writer of all time.
